about

Melbourne singer-songwriter par excellence Sweet Whirl returns with two remixes of her signature tune Sweetness from recent debut album How Much Works.
Electronic auteur Andras contributes a dub reimagining full of space and mystery. Andras’ relationship with Chapter stretches back to the wonderful Andras & Oscar album Café Romantica in 2014.
Rachow is a new solo moniker for Nick Murray of much- loved DJ duo Otologic. His remix continues the downbeat vibe with a late night club rework. Otologic are NTS Radio hosts and veterans of innumerable Animals Dancing parties across Australia.
Esther Edquist aka Sweet Whirl says about the remixes: “I love the club. In another life I might’ve tried being a serious DJ. But as it is I’m too wrapped up in songwriting so I wrote a song that I thought would work well as a remix, then gave it to two of my all-time-favourite Melbourne DJs, Nick “Rachow” Murray from Otologic and Andras. And they’re friends of mine, so we’ve had a few convos over the years about our influences and interests - I knew my work would be in good hands.
“I love these two remixes. They’re so musical, so sympathetic to my style while also taking a big step away from the original. It’s such a cool sensation and an honour to hear your music merge into something new and beautiful.”
Sweet Whirl’s How Much Works album has been an unqualified success, despite emerging in May at the height of global pandemic madness. The album was written up in The Fader, Mojo, Gorilla Vs Bear, Brooklyn Vegan and elsewhere, and topped community radio charts in Australia. It was a RRR album of the week in Melbourne, had airplay from Radio X’s John Kennedy in London, and Sweetness was playlisted on Double J across Australia.
“Easily one of the most beautiful things I've heard thus far in 2020” – Gorilla Vs Bear
“Her melodies alone are enough to draw the listener in” – The Fader
